all u-joints are new or tight
i would say most of the play is in the front diff
i can hear/feel the pinion gear clinking the ring when twisting back and forth
that would be backlash right?
are there shims in there to adjust side to side play of the ring gear?
btw its a 99 d-30 hp with 189k and i'm almost positive the factory front axle as i'm the third owner but first to lift it

Hello I'm new to the forum...obviously I'm here because of a problem. Couple days ago the P0138 code came up and know it's the o2 sensor. But then yesterday the engine started to run rougher than the usual...as if it wasn't running on all 6cylinders (I own a 2000 Jeep cherokee sport 4.0L) It would still start easily and everything and when I shut it off it does a clunk noise...wich wasn't there. And today after coming back from a small trip to put some gas, it started to smell...it had a strong gas smell...could it be because of the faulty o2 sensor? No other codes came up...

Replace the 02, clean the codes, reset the computer and go from there.

If that's the code that popped up then I'd say that's the problem. Easy to fix. $50 part at the parts store. You'll need a 7/8th wrench or deep socket to swap it out.

Easy to fix, but I highly recommend the use of a torch to help loosen the sensor.

I just used a lot of PB blaster. Let it soak for a good bit. Took me all of 5 minutes to pop out the old and install the new. By far the easiest fix I've ever done on my heep.

Alright, I know this is a common one but I don't have the mental capacity at the moment to properly search for it.

The key won't turn all the way to the off position. I can get the key out just fine, just not in the right spot. What do I need to replace, because this is driving me nuts.
