Ok, I've searched around, and haven't found an answer.
My steering does not return to center when you let go of the wheel. Where you point it, is where its going to go when you let go of the wheel. I've remove dampner; no change. Replaced u-joints on axle; no change.
I'm thinking steering box to tight, or starting to fail. Change box? Any Ideas?
99 XJ, 6" lift. Rocky Road Drop Pitman & HD Steering. Did not add or change anything when this started happening. Thanks

i swapped my grinding tcase with one from an ax15 manual. I have an auto AW4, is there a difference in the speedo gear? if there is can i just swap the one from my old tcase?
if so, can i swap it out without dropping the tcase again? really would prefer not to...

AFAIK all NP231s use the same speedo gear, and I think you can yank the sensor without having to drop it. Just swap with the one from your old tcase.

I am really interested in the injector upgrade, i only get about 15.5 mpg right now and know it will go down once the wheels are on, so..
i have a 2000 and i havent seen anyone with a 99+ 4.0 doing the swap, or i havent found it yet. is it a valid mod for my motor?

I have a 1988 Jeep Comanche 4.0L, 4WD, Auto Trans, 232 T-case, 35 front and rear axles. I did front end work to her yesterday and in the process pulled the front axles out. anyway, the problem is the 4 wheel drive is not engaging. It has been working good in the past and i recently changed the fluid in the t-case and diffs. I have no dash light. the lever slides into all gears with no problems. getting into 4-lo still acts as always, sometimes having to roll the truck to get it to slide into gear so im guessing the transfer case isnt the problem. i can put it in 4 hi and spin my rear tires all day long (theres snow on the ground). its like my front axles just arent engaging...??? any help would be great. Ive been reading on the vacuum assist in those things. not too sure whats going on there yet. would pulling the axles out cause some sort of problem with the vacuum system? Thanks
