yes, once I drive it on roads at 35, 45, 55 it is showing I guess normal reading?. but its when I stop at a light for a few minutes or just have it running or going slowly(crawling speeds) it starts going up but it doesnt go up real fast. I just checked the rad. and it is in good shape. I'll go out and start it up in a bit and see about the fans. gotta feed my demon spawn right now. lol

I have read that if the resistor is bad only high speed works. Any thoughts as to which of the three might be the the most likely cause or had a similar experience and fixed?

ok so I took trash to the dump and came back home. and after just a couple of mins it started to go up a little. it started and was staying at just past the "0" in 100. Then it after about 5-8 mins of sitting in the driveway it hit the "\" angled hash mark and around that time the e fan kicked on for about 10 seconds at most and then shut off. the clutch fan(attached to belt drive) has been on since I started it.
In my MR2 my temp guage goes up to just below halfway and stays there and thats normal for it but with the jeep it stays like I said just past the "0" in 100(just under the "\" angled hash mark while driving and then after sitting proceeds to go up very slowly. which is what prompted my question to begin with. not knowing if maybe it was "too cool" while driving and just going up to normal setting while stopped or not driving.

Many threads on what to do and not do but I think you should just replace it with a new casting of the 0331 to avoid problems.

I noticed yesterday that after a long time of driving, I was out for about 5-6 hours driving, that when stopped or going slow(below 20 mph) the temp gauge started going up from just under the first hash mark slowly and it actually made it to just on the tip edge of the middle hash mark on the right side. I don't know if it would go further because I then went ahead and started driving on the road again(25+mph) and it would go back down. but stopping at a light or sitting for a few more minutes it would go back up again. I'm not sure if thats normal for jeeps as my mr2 doesnt do this. The previous owners told me they replaced the water pump recently and I was thinking maybe its the thermostat?? I checked coolant level and it was fine. there are no leaks anywhere. before I start checking on my own id like some experienced suggestions or tips to lead me in the right direction. thanks for any help.

Removing the Side Trim
Well after reading numerous posts on here about removing the trim, I decided to give it a go. I pulled them off and went to work with my heat gun and a razor blade. DONT DO THIS. After 30 minutes gave up on that.
Talked to a body shop friend and he said to go buy a Stripe Removing Wheel.
Went to the auto body supply asked for a Stripe Removing Wheel, I think I payed $14.
Put it in my hand drill and in about 1 hr tonight I cleaned all the tape and residue off both sides. No damage to paint other than that which I did with the razor blade.
Messy job but a great way to do it.
