I mean, if it's not going to cause issues with using in conjunction with my SYE, I'm just going to leave it. I just want to make sure it's not going to cause issues before I decide whether or not to remove it.
Oh well then, screw it - leave it on! It won't cause issues with the SYE, and at only 1/4" that's not much extra tilt for the engine and transmission, nor much more stress on the front drive shaft. I'm by no means an expert, but the only negative effect I'd predict is maybe some premature wear on the engine mounts with an increased angle over stock. But nowhere near that of like a 1" drop.

Not exactly... the front drive shaft will spin constantly, but without the transfer case engaged, it's not really in 4WD.

These pictures should help clear it up.

Possible you got the axle shafts from a YJ Dana 30?

Default outting standard trany in an auto Xj

I have an auto transmission in my 90 Xj and I would like to put a standard in it. Can anyone tell me what years and different models have a compatable 4x4 5 speed tranny for the 4.0 in that model. I will also need to know if there are any other kinds of vehicles that I could rob clutch pedal, master cylinder and other parts from to make it work. Thanks ya'll

You can look online and find them. However, I will say that if you're going to replace the axle shafts anyway, using the 2 piece setup is generally stronger when using '95+ shafts and u-joints. Those are stronger. But if you're not doing a lot of wheeling and not pushing huge tires, then you're good. But I'd try online.

Remove the air intake hose and spray some carb cleaner in there while it's running. Short sprays of carb cleaner otherwise the engine will shut off because of lack of air. It will bog down the engine for a second, but I've done this many times on mine and it's helped.

Both axle housings are D30's. That's the only one they used in front. You need to verify/check the gear ratio before using the ZJ axle in your XJ though, so it matches your rear gears.

Which winch suould i get? I have $400 to spend. I was considering the smittybilt x2O 8000. Sealed, submersible- but lower weight. But think it would pull fine. I have seen mixed reviews on smittybilt, have seen them on warn too. Sooooo........ Whatya think?

you could always be the first to try Quadratec's new winches out, and review them for us.
