starter/flywheel grinding
So i just got done solving some clutch problems on my 1990 jeep cherokee
This time after getting the trans back in my starter is making an awfull grinding noise as if it's not lined up with the flywheel correct. I just tried loosening the starter a bit retightning even pulled it out and cranked it over to make sure it is functioning properly.
Everything from all this seams fine and I am out of ideas. The teeth still apear fine I only started about 3-4 times like this you can see on the teath of the starter a bit of shiny jus ton the tips but they are not worn down as i said this just started.
Flywheel look good as well I just don't understand what would cause me to have this issue all of a sudden. I have dropped that trans out 4 times now over the last yr and a half and this is the first time I have had any issues.
Any suggestion are much appreciated.
Thanks

For me it was a failing magnetic clutch on the compressor. I'm told (by my mechanic neighbor) that Sanden compressors are notorious for failing in this way, though it is probably as true for other compressor manufacturers. Allegedly one can check this by hitting the magnetic clutch firmly with something wooden (NOT metal) when the AC isn't running properly. In fairness, I never got this trick to work, even though it was the magnetic clutch that was failing.
Before you go overboard and start ordering parts, check the relay (you should be able to swap it out directly with several of the others in the relay box), and make sure you're not just low on refrigerant. Some internet searching will yield plenty of guidance for checking this.

Anyone using this intake?
http://www.quadratec.com/products/17006_7101_07.htm
Looks imteresting. Dont necessarily want to drill a 3" hole in my firewall though. Seems like a good spot for cool air. Id be looking to put it on my dd. Do you think water coming down in the cowl could be a problem.

And the 44 isn't much stronger than a 29spline 8.25
But for 33's id stay with the 29spline 8.25
96 jeep grand cherokee
i have a 96 grand cherokee, that has had very little problems aside from normal wear and tear. the other day i drove around all day shoping and the jeep ran great. that evening after a few hours of sitting i went out to the jeep and it fired right up no problems, but then it instantly dies. it seems like it just looses spark, after it dies you can hear a clicking noise inside the cab some place, was thinkin it could be a relay. could it be the ignition? i am stumpped, any info could really help me here.

my 2001 pulses when i'm idle. "engine" light is on...throws code: 0740

the staff at advanced auto parts was really helpful in selling me the coil rail that fixed another code, so i trust the guy. he told me that the code 0740 is probably just a solenoid issue that doesn't really need fixing. the pulsing though..i'm assuming that is related bc it's only during idle and, honestly, it's kind of nauseating. pulses about 2 times per second and i can feel it in my soul.
fluids are good and at the right level.
thoughts?

How is it once you step on the gas? First thought is IAC and TPS going crazy. Many writeups on here on how to test and clean those guys.
