Thank you sir. Great thread there. Lots of unique intake ideas. Lol. Made me feel good about the cowl intake.

I checked out dukies build thread. I like the cowl intake of his. Simple. And doesnt look bad at all. But i really like the looks of that intake i linked to. And i like the fact it removes the factory airbox all together.

My only hang up now is that the included filter is like a k&n and needs oiled. Its a pretty unique shape and i dont know if i could find a paper replacement. But i will probably bite the bullet and get it this week.

I'm using the exact same one.

Love it, but a bit noisy. But then again I have no carpet/insulation so everything's noisy. If I hadn't gotten this, I would have followed dilutes write-up.

indeed it is. You may run into issues with the exhaust/intake mating up though.

Why are you considering the swap might I ask?

Nice! Was your filter wet at all? Just curious.

As for the cost of that intake. I don't think $150 is bad, when compared to ones that cost $250 and still take it from the engine compartment.

Another plus is I can then use my stock air box from my dd in my trail rig which needs one to fix the front end damage. Then I can make a cowl intake similar to yours. I wanted a snorkel but I just despise how they look.

Noisy as in you can hear it breathing in? Because I like that noise!

That would be easy enough. I was thinking of putting another hole on top of the cowl and do a cowl induction type reverse scoop with an extra spectre elbow left over from my wife's mustang. It already has a water baffle built in. Then make a high rise like a tractor for deep water. Shuck is seldom.

not a bit. The tidal wave over the cowl was actually the first time i've ever seen any water make it into the airbox with that setup, and it was only a tiny bit.

i hate how roof snorkels look also...thus the cowl mod.

Hah! Retailer here sells the official K&N kit for $530 :P

I take it you want to get rid of the stock airbox to free up some room? I just thinks it's crappy - I'm looking for a larger air cleaner from a truck or tractor that takes a canister style filter, but will still fit in the stock location. Like this: http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAirFilter.htm

Yea more room (train horn?) and the cool factor. Lol

I will definitely have to find a paper replacement for the filter element. I dont want to deal with oiling a filter. Got enough fluids to keep track of.

Im pretty sure this is the one the kit uses:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-HPR9882/

Anyone seen a paper filter like that. ?
