not really - if it sits in one spot for a few minutes any truck will do it, especially if the humidity and temperature are right...

The lifters and camshaft are a matched set, but not the push rods. You can swap out the push rods without the lifters if they are in good shape. If you swap out the lifters on your old camshaft, you will have to re-break in the lifters to the cam. You have to put a lot of engine assembly lube on the lifter faces and after the engine is put back together you will have to run it at 2000 rpm's for 20 or 30 minutes. So, if the lifters are quiet and in good shape, just swap out the push rods. And if you pull out the lifters you need to keep them in order with the cam front to back. If you don't you can destroy your camshaft. Roller lifter engine cars are not subject to this problem. Only flat tappet camshafts.

So ive looked an found a few threads started but they didnt contain anything but askin if it was possible so ill ask here. I have a 4 cylinder diesel john deere motor thats turboed or an just sittin on the back of a street sweeper that I can use to replace my motor in my 1990 xj. Has anyone done this swap? Ive gotten the motor specs from john deere but I cant find any write ups sayin theyve done it. I know ppl have done the 4cyl cummins 4bt motor swap, my main concern is a adapter from the motor to the tranny. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance

First make sure the fuse is not popped, if not, you can check to see if there is a relay. I am not sure if there is one for the instrument cluster but maybe. Also, the cluster has a flexible printed circuit board on the back where two plugs attach into the cluster. The circuit board is delicate and if someone has been in there before they could have plugged it back in wrong or maybe the plug is not in all the way and it has a bad connection.
So just check all the connections, fuses and relays if any.

Need to replace oil filter seals, looking at morris 4x4 the dates they have listed for the kits are up to 1998. I am assuming that the difference between the 98 4.0L and the 99 4.0L as far as oil filter seals are not going to be different? Please confirm.

Pitman arm play?
Have replaced tie rod ends, center link, and track bar on my stock 2001 Jeep XJ. Noticed about 1/16" play in the pitman arm when I had the center link disconnected. Steering at freeway speeds seems 50% tighter than it was but still a little loose. Is the pitman arm suppose to be rock solid or is the play acceptable and I should look somewhere else.
