I have a 1991 XJ 4.0 h/o 4x4. I currently have a whisle when the vehicle hits approximatly 10mph. I cannot figgure out what is causing it. I went around and sprayed every last vacum line with carb/choke and have not found a leak. It sounds as though it is coming from the front and the whistling sound is somewhat interupted as the vehicle rolls meaning that it is not a constant whistling sound and the interuption is faster and slower with wheel speed.
Any thoughts?

Has anyone had a chance to think about this issue i'm having? Totally at a loss here.

take the thermostat out of the housing to flush it, and use a inlet the top small hose, with the rad cap (or lower rad hose) open. This will backflush the system

Blocks worth of water that was just at my bumper. When I came out my Jeep did the same thing. If you alt gets wet let it dry off and it should return to normal.

more likely though it was the mud pits after the river. Everything was working splendidly after the river crossing.

Not quite. The hubs require the outer part of the axle shaft to be bolted in to hold the bearing together. You would need to remove the u-joint and bolt the outer part in. You would also want to create a plug for the axle tube to keep the lube in and the road grime out.

I went through the same thing. Bought a no rust 2wd 4dr with an excellent body. Converted it to 4wd.
Unfortunatally the transmission has to be taken apart to swap out the main shaft. But, the 4wd version is more plentiful than the 2wd and I find them all the time for $100. So just overhaul the old one or buy a low mileage used one. The AW4 runs for 250k+ miles if they are halfway taken care of.
The 4wd conversion is plug and play, super easy. I might do another one and sell it. lol! I bought mine for $300 bucks and the conversion was about $480 from the U Pull It yard and Craigslist.

This has probably been asked before but here it goes anyway. I have a donor 4wd, 1998. Going to pick up a 2wd in Florida soon and want to convert it to 4wd. No problem with conversion, 40 years in the 'pits', can fix anything on wheels or tracks. The 98 4wd is running down the road every day, cylinder 1 is weak and is noticeable. The unit has 210k miles on it. The trans shifts well and feels solid. There is really no way for me to know how many miles are actually on the trans so I'll assume it's all of the 210k. The 2wd has about 80k on it. My question is, can the 4wd output shaft be put into the 2wd trans WITHOUT a complete disassembly? My guess is no but you never know until you ask or research and I'm not up for researching a simple question. I figured this would be the place to ask and get the right answer ASAP. If no then I'd probably just overhaul the 4wd trans and use the 2wd for hard parts if needed. Thanks in advance for helping.

I went with Fat Bob's Garage. He is on Ebay too, but you can get the same deal at his site. 3 inch spacers with shackles for $89. The shackles are pretty good. I bought Pro Comp 2.5 inch rear leaf springs ($200 Total shipped from TruckProUsa) with the shackles set at the 1.5 inch hole I get a perfect 45 degree angle on the shackle.
Hopefully this is the right place to ask this: I'm in the market for some new coil spacers/bushings. Any certain ones anybody would recommend? I was thinking about going with these?
