wheel bearing is contained within the hub on XJs (at least after 87). It's a one piece assembly - take off wheel, take off axle nut, remove calipers and 3 bolts and it comes right off.

I advise doing the axle ujoint as well while you have everything apart

Start with the passenger side rear, then drivers rear, then passenger front, then driver front.

I have been reading posts all day on these issues and have yet to find a solution to my problem.

So I bought a 2001 Cherokee limited yesterday with some minor issues. Both the ABS and Airbag lights are stuck on. The previous owner claims they came on after he pulled the dash/column to change out the heater core.

I have began troubleshooting both lights and come up with nothing. I am posting this to find out if there is something in the dash that he might have pulled loose to get those lights on together.

-Airbage ACM looked good. Connector to ACM looked good as well.
-All fuses were good to go.
-Checking ABS sensors tonight.

All those lights do is tell you the system is not working properly and have been disabled. Check the cluster for possible loose or non connected wiring/plugs. For ABS, check your wheel speed sensors/wires or the relay. And for the Airbags, there are shock sensors around various parts of the body, mainly the corners of the vehicle. Check for loose or damaged wiring. Then check the fuses or module.

You should also check the clock spring in the steering wheel. It will make the lights come on if it is broke. It takes very little to break it and should be replaced. I just tore my 2000 dash apart and forgot about the clock spring now I have both lights on the dash going.

yeah I thought about that. My concern is that since both the horn and the cruise control work that i might be wasting the money. Will the ABS light come on with a bad clockspring? Just seems bizzare. Thanks so much for your help!

Gonna put the correct temp sensors in my 88 this weekend and was curious if you can use teflon tape on them or if you just screw them straight in and they seal without anything

CPS no, try TPS. It really doesn't take long to clean it and your IAC. Give it a try!
