Do they make adapters for the the trans mission cooler lines?
I want to add a real trans cooler and eliminate the part inside the radiator.
So it'd be like a quick connect fitting to a barb so I can clamp a line on it. I know I've seem them before.

That being said tranny fluid is low pressure, so just run transmission hose from the outlet on the radiator to the cooler, then from the cooler to the tranny return hard line. Just cut the return line where it exits the radiator (leave some tube attached to the radiator), slip the hose over the hard line, and use a regular clamp to tighten it up.

About attaching it though. I have NEVER had luck just clamping something to a hard line. And I've tried numerous time trying to fix leaky lines on two Cherokees now. Lol. Both times I've ended up buying replacement factory lines. Which from summit only cost like $45 bucks.
Anyways, that's why I want to avoid cutting and clamping.
Any opinions on what brand/kind of cooler? The stock one on my 91 was tiny. But how big before its overkill?

brand is not important. Just get a universal one. I have a 4-row one I pulled off a dodge truck as my power steering cooler, but for a tranny i'd probably try and get a 6-row. Depends on how wide it is though...
Too big would be blocking more the 1/2 of the radiator.

Check this out - he got the connector from Home Depot. And he used the clamps I was talking about.

Sounds like it could be a fuel delivery problem. Are you able to verify fuel pressure? If it's like the earlier 4.0s then there should be a schraeder valve on the fuel rail that you can hook a pressure gauge to. On the late XJs I believe regular pressure is like 49 PSI.
You may have better luck posting in the Grand Cherokee Tech forum, this thread revolves around XJs specifically which are different vehicles than your WJ.
