I have a 2000 Sport. It has a Dana 30 in the front and 35 in the rear. I know this is not the ideal set-up and it all depends on what you are doing with your rig, but What is the opinion of the optimal axles and gears so that you wouldn't need to worry about getting into trouble on the trail for the majority of situations. thanks josh

Also sorry, Would that axle with those gears be a strait swap? or would there be other things that I need to do. This is my DD so would that change on-road performance?

yes you would also have to do 1 of 2 things to keep in on the road. you have to have your front gears match the rear so that would have to be swapped. however option 2 is if you need to get it back on the road before you can afford getting the front gears replaced you can just remove your front driveshaft but then no 4x4.

i started to replace my rear main seal replacement today while waiting on the lift. figured since the axle was out might as well. however i have run into a problem. i cant get my oil pan off. i have searched and searched but have only found that people just simply pull it off. hmm the reason is becasue the back of the pan lip is stuck on the dust cover for the bell housing. my question is do i have to pull my tranny back some to do this job? i have a 1999 4.0 5 speed.

thats what im talking about blue. however mine doesnt come in two. it goes all the way around the bell housing. so im guessing that i have to pull the tranny just to do a rear main seal? this sux if thats true.

dont worry i figured it out.a few of these and figure what the he** give her a good yank and she came out. apperently there is some sort of foam or rubber material on top of the dust shield probably to block off the RMS from leaking into the bell housing and messing up the clutch.
