Most likely the positive of the lamp connector has melted. Check the connector for burnt parts.

The AW4 is a 4 speed automatic transmission (3 speed + overdrive). the ratios are: from 1st to 4th: 2.804-1.531-1.00-0.753.
What gives you the impression that it is a 5 speed is the operation of the lock-up torque converter in 3rd and 4th gear.

Probably you have a problem of steering allignment. Shake the steering bars and look for worn rod ends. Another thing could be play in the lower control arm bushings or worn track bar bushings causing the noise.

Thanks for the link but I was wanting adjustable... I found some JKS bumpstops that will probably work perfect... Not cheap though at about 300 bones for the whole set.

My headlight switch connector went through a slow meltdown over a long period of time due to a mismated connector pin. Every now and again I'd catch a whiff of melting plastic. Several years went by and I always wondered what was that burning smell but could never pin it down until four years ago when my headlamps began to blink off sporadically. Upon attempting to replace my headlight switch I found the connector was melted (and very difficult to demate). The reason for the meltdown - one pin had missed it's hole when assembled at the factory - it had been inserted down to one side of the female contact rather than in it so it was making inadequate and resistive contact which got hot whenever the lights were on. so i did a bunch of research for a buddy in the past about boosting a jeep, but cant find or remember if the stock map sensor can handle any boost? i would assume not, but please enlighten me

I had a little argue with the steelership today & had to pay $200
for a diagnosis + Fuel pressure TEST, Fuel DRAIN & $20 worth of new fuel and another DRB TEST (no misfire codes )
Result--> Needs NEW PCM ,ONLY NEW NO GUARANTY or possibility of returning if doesnt help $1000
they said that they will not do any more testing b/c they dont need to :O
(I was hoping for a engine compression check & injector noid test)
Found a place that says that they will check my ECU-PCM-CPU for $40
reprogram it for $90 and if its bad a used reprogramed for $250
SADLY Im not able to any work on the car myself b/c of where I live
I know previous owner verry well, he left me the car after getting 4th DUI
befor leaving he told me that there was a lot of work done on a car like
1 of coil packs is new, spark plugs, wires, new exhaused, shocks, TMC reseted, ETC
but I dont really know what exaclly was accually DONE and checked !!
no receipts, no phone numbers
so I cant really relay on what he said :/
what do you think ? what should I do ?

Default This is an easy one.....

I may be missing something, cuz I just joined, but how do I post a question??? I may be old, but I've owned quite a few Jeeps from a 1951 M1B (Still have it) to a 2004 Grand Cherokee - The older ones I've a bit of knowledge to share, but these new fangled ones with OBD II code readers and the like are a little beyond me - Could use some help!!

Dahhhhh because it has a stick and a clutch and you have to shift the gears manually. My 1989 has the 5 speed manual tranny! My other 1988 has the 4 speed automatic. My question is again, what are the gear ratios of the 5 speed?
