Default Front sway bar removal

Any tricks to getting this front sway bar removed? I went under there and tried removing the nut on the end link bu I just shattered the bolt instead So i figured that maybe I need to relieve the weight of the axle on it. So I have the axle weight supported and tried hitting the other link but still it feels like it is just going to snap. Any advice? And any advice for the other bolts I'm going tohit? I might have already stripped one.... And yes I have them drowning in penetrating oil as we speak.

The nut that holds the link to the swaybar or the lower one? You are lifting it right? If you aren't re-using the links just get them off however you can cut them if you have to.

Edit: I torched mine for a few minutes and both of them came off.

Jeep developed a new noise very very loud pop when turning the wheel more than 70% in either direction. I'm assuming it's the trackbar but I'd like a second opinion.

Yes, I'm lifting it. And they both snapped on me.. The bushings were harder than concrete and the bolts snapped like twigs. But I was removing it so I can work on lowering my axle for this incoming lift I have, so for the mean time its okay. Took it for a spin around the block, and boy is it fun but I would never try to drive it anywhere. Do you guys think I should just pick up a set of quick disconects? Because regardless I am going to have toreplace that piece since i broke the bolt. So I think that this would be a blessing in disguise. What do you guys think?

its a 96 xj sport putting in a 2" lift. I do like 95% road driving.

Default 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport

HELP!!! I have never posted in a forum before and I have no idea what I am doing! I will state my problem and then maybe someone could direct me to the proper place. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4-door- 60th anniversary edition. There is a rod through the motor and I do not know why, as I keep EVERYTHING up to date on this vehicle.I have checked several places on the internet and local salvage yards. Some are saying that only certain year motors can be used in my Jeep because of the computer not working with other motors. My brain is starting to overload with all these facts. The basic question I have is.......... Do I have to put a 2001 4.0 motor in my Jeep or is there any 4.0 Jeep engine compatable?????Thanks.........an old lady Jeep owner

Welcome to the forum! to the best of my knowledge the easiest motors you could put in your xj woould be 99+ I could be wrong but I know some people on here will give you the corrct you answer. I say easiest because I believe all of the electrical stuff should match right up, where as if you went with an earlier enginge some of your electrical stuff could be off.

Removed my headliner along with the factory sound bar and rear cargo light because its all attached to each other. Now my gauges dont work but the lights in the cluster do. My radio doesn't work either and the dome lights won't come on. Solutions? 99 btw.

Did you remove the soundbar or did you rip it out? in my 96 xj when I worked on my head unit I had similar crazy problems with the lights. I'm thinking maybe you damaged a wire somewhere down the line. I'd double check all of your wires in the area where you worked for starters

Nvmnd. I got it. My sound bar is built into the headliner. I removed it all and apparently i shorted it out some where. I checked all the fuses yesterday at 11pm and i missed 1. Guess what!? It was the bad one. Its good now but that still doesn't solve the problem of why it happened.

If you can find discos for the same price or a little more than plane old extended links, then I say why not upgrade.

Default 95 Doors on a 98?

I'm trying to do a little fabrication project on my 98 and was wondering if 95 doors would line up okay. I know the hinges are different but was the design marginally different between 95 and 98? thoughts appreciated

I know there are quite a few differences about the door, such as trim, hinges, and windows. But about it lining up? I couldn't tell ya, I haven't seem anybody talk about it or do it. Good luck though!

Old question. To stroke or to rebuild? I'm rebuilding my blown engine. Would it be relatively the same cost to stroke it or would machining costs make it much more expensive? Also this is the Jeep I want to build on and keep for quite a few years in other words, in 15-20 years I want this engine still running strong. If I stroked it how long should I expect it to run?
