Hi guys hope i'm not hijacking anybody. At some point during my last trip to the trails i started noticing a popping noise in my steering. Turns out whatever is suppose to support the steering column coming through the firewall is no longer there. Does anyone no what this part is and how hard it is to change? Thanks in advance.

Quick question, but i got some lights and I'm wondering how mount them to the bars on my bumper. Drill and bolt? Or is there some short of clamp i can use?

Thanks for the info, do you know if there are any higher amperage alternators that will fit without grinding? Using a grand cherokee alt would probably be cheaper but i dont feel like getting out the angle grinder and would hate to chop up a brand new alt.

you can have the stock one re-wound, or pick up a re-wound one online. They're quite pricey though

Guys, I've been battling a small cooling issue over the past month. Kind of an intermittent issue that I've been band-aiding.

About a month ago, my 97 cherokee started running a bit hot (past the 210 mark) then it suddenly shot up to the red. I pulled over and let it cool down. After a while I was able to make it all the way home (Was not far at all).

I decided to bleed the coolant. After that, it ran fine right at 210 for about 2 weeks, then again on the highway it started to run a little hot and then overheated while my fiancee was driving. She pulled over and we had to have her dad come tow it home. While we waited, it cooled down some and I decided to try bleeding the coolant again. Guess what, it fired up and sat at 210 the whole time. (both times you could tell it had been a little hot).

I've found that my radiator appears to have a very small pin-hole leak. You can hear it hiss after I shut the jeep off and it smells a bit like coolant but I don't ever see any on the ground.

Anyway, I think what is happening... After driving the vehicle and cycling the cooling system it lets air in every time I shut it down and then the system develops hot spots. So once I bleed the air out of the system it is fine for a while until it randomly over heats again.

Sound plausible?

I'm gonna have a used/tested radiator sent over and swap it in if it isn't too much work and go from there, because I'm certain the radiator has at least some leak.

I'm also going to toss on a new radiator cap for the heck of it and keep the old one.

Iv'e never heard of getting them re-wound, well i suppose that is all a refurbished one is. Do you know of any shops that will do that? Its weird because my Alternator has an intermittent issue it doesn't charge when i start the jeep unless i whack it with something. so i am thinking the copper wire isn't the issue, it has to be some kind of resistor or electrical component inside the alternator.

yes sounds like your brushes are worn out. You can try replacing them yourself, but it's probably worth just getting a new one or getting yours full rebuilt.

Yeah it sounds like rebuilding it would be more of a hassle than its worth. I am going to auto-zone later today and will see what prices run for a higher amp alt. PicNPull is always an option. I saw quite a few zj's in there yesterday, is there a specific year/model that will have that specific "7913" alternator?

What does a rear brake line extension look like installed? I'm gonna get a new line from a 99 dakota i think i just want to know what they look like lol

It should look like your stock brake line just longer, will have a block where it mounts at the axle and a hose on the other end where it mounts to the metal lines on the chassis. make sure the hose isn't cracked and in good condition, you don't want leaky brake lines.
