What do you guys think about attaching some boxed 6x9 to the roof behind the front seats?

Standard practice for that is to get a soundbar and mount it behind the seats. It will fit 6.5s easily.

Yeah was going to go the sound bar route but all the ones at the jy here are all falling apart and I already have the 6x9s in boxes.

I would be attaching them with bolts and L brackets so I don't think they would fall off, but I see your point.

Anyone know of an aftermarket XJ sound bar?

I had a better write-up but lost all my files when my computer crashed and I had to start all over again. Oh well...

What about attaching them to the back of the back seat? Is the back made out of wood?

I have a question, tried to search but found nothing of use.

What would cause extremely sloppy steering, before the steering box, but tight and solid steering components after the box?

I can reach and wiggle the steering input shaft into the steering box with ease, and nothing on the other side moves.

Is this a bad steering box?

TIA

I ended up just bolting it to the rear floor boards against the edges sideways so there is still leg room. I will have to take the bench out to fold the rear seat down, but it's worth it to have tunes with doors off.

Have you tried tightening the worm gear on your steering box? It's a quick test & solved a similar problem on my '01.

A few minutes of searching the forum should bring up a good explanation of how this is done.
