I have a problem with my rear wiper and defrost, my defrost won't work at all, and my wiper won't work until my hatch is open, anyone know where to start diagnosis?

XJs commonly have wires that rub/pinch in different places. My first step would be to find where the wires pass from the body to the hatch, and see if they're stripped/severed.

My front axel is leaking at the U joints. I'm going to replace the seal this weekend. Is it the
Axel spindle seal or the Axel shaft seal??
I know the shaft seal is the one near the joints and other is for inside the carrier. I'll assume I have to replace them if I'm taking it apart?

if i take the guages from my 98 that have the tach on it and swap it into my 99 that has no tach just the big gas guage will the recorded miles on the 98 guages now be on the 99? the 98 has 180k and the 99 has 225k...
I have a 96 chero and something odd has started happening recently. It cranks up fine BUT when I turn the key to shut it off it won't turn off. The key turns to the off position, but nothing happens.
Any ideas what might be causing this? Ignition maybe?
