I bought two, but I didn't break any when I did my lift. Four options:
1) Buy as many as you think you might need
2) Buy 4 to replace them
3) Buy 6 to replace the four leaf spring bolts AND the upper shackle bolts
4) Since you'll be working with someone who has his own XJ, you could ride up to the stealership with him if any of your bolts break.
You may be able to do the lift without needing any, or you can replace them all if you want.

I'll check my schedule when I go to work tomorrow night. Changed again this morning, so I don't know what I'm doing for the rest of the month. Don't have my September schedule yet, either.
