My jeep normally gets about 14-17mpg but lately after i sunk it in a crick it started running bad and i have gotten around 4mpg. also in park if i rev it up it smokes black. any suggestions on what my problem might be and what part i need to fix it? its a 96 4wd 6cyl.

I've used the two nut system to keep a nut on. but without the space to use two wrenches (one to keep pressure on the top nut while the second turns the bottom nut to remove the bolt), I'm afraid a deep socket would treat it like just a big nut.
What if I JB welded the top of the two nut system?

or both the Loc-Tite and JB weld?

My buddy has a 2000 xj that we recently swapped the low pinion D30 for a high pinion D30 in... after putting the drive shaft in and wheeling a little we noticed that the drive shaft gets too close and rubs the connection between the exhaust pipe and header. has anyone else done this swap and or know of any possible solutions to stop the rubbing betweent he front drive shaft and exhaust?
side note he has a 4.5" lift with not transfer case drop installed. (wasnt sure if this might affect the drive shaft angle enough to clear the exhaust)
thanks for you help/ideas in advance!

My 98xj since I've owned it will not turn over on the 1st crank no matter how long you try but as soon as you let off & crank again it starts right up.any ideas why this might be happening?

Anyone know if oreilys, etc will scan codes? Autozones reader didn't work.
They're scanner worked.
Here's my codes:
Oxygen sensor shorted to voltage
O2 Sensor heater failure
So obviously there's a problem with the o2 sensor, I'm assuming its the upstream, more important one. I did drain the coolant last night but it was about 3 hours after that that it threw the code. Guess I'll check out. Doesn't seem to be burning rich tho. Exhaust doesn't smell rich.
Edit
If I do fix it by cleaning contacts and or wiring, will it make the code go away? Or does it have to be cleared?
Edit
Its bank 1 sensor 2 I'm assuming that's the downstream after the cat. How important is that one? Does it just check for the cat working or does it help with air/fuel levels...?

I'm not sure about fitment on the head itself, I do know that some heads have a common exhaust port for cylinders 3 and 4 which can mess things up.
The big difference though is in 2000 they included two pre-cats for emissions control. In that pic you install the two pre-cat O2 sensors in those bungs near the flanges, then there are these platinum screens, (catalytic converters sorta) and two post-cat O2 sensors before the exhaust is collected and sent downwards. 1999 and down just collect all cylinders to a single flange that mates with a downpipe that goes to the big cat. The 2000+ computer requires these extra sensors

I'm good with technology when its not strapped to a motor.
On a side note, is contact cleaner in an aerosol can or what? Never bought any, but everyone seems to use it... think its bought time j have a can.

Yea its a 99, still only has two. I changed out the exhaust on Saturday, and I thinks I may have hit the wire for the downstream o2 when I was beating off (lol) the old muffler.
I need the right mileage though. Bout to drive 750 miles to Virginia beach Tuesday morning. I need all the mpgs I can get! I'm pretty sides its bad connection, or frayed wire.

if you disconnect the battery it will clear all your codes, then as you drive it if the problem still exists then the code will reappear...
