Well this guy who lives down the road from me had the same problem and said he had his cleaned and it fixed the problem. Could it have something to do with my pressure regulator?

If its stuck closed yea. Vacuum opens it. Make sure the lil hose is sucking good.

i had that same exact problem, turned out it was my upstream o2 sensor was shot. on cold startup its in closed loop for a few minutes, then switches to open loop once it warms up. mine would run & idle fine but as soon as it went to open loop; the o2 sensor would dump a bunch of fuel and run real rich and my engine'd stall and run like sh**.

when its cold, unplug the front o2 and start it up and let it warm up, if it stays running good until you plug it back in thats your problem.

TPS sensor is another possibility.

There are a few countries that made Cherokees that were sold in there own territory. China was one of them. Not likely they made it to the States though.
Also Argentina and Venezuela.

The SJ Cherokee was also made in Argentina and briefly in Australia.

1990 Jeep Cherokee xj 4.0l Aw4

Recently when at operating tempature of about 210* in AZ with ambient temps of 105*+ coming to a stop my oil pressure gauge drops to 0. If I put it in nuetral and Rev it up it will go back to normal.of around 20-30 at idle. Put it in drive go to next light slow down and it drops to 0 again but engine runs and sounds normal. As soon as light turns green I give it gas.and it goes back to normal. At around 45 an 1500rpm its at about 38-40psi steady.

This does not happen every time, just has been getting more frequent.

I'm assuming its the oil pressure gauge acting up not the actual oil pressure itself. Does anyone have a picture of the area where the oil pressure gauge is and maybe a how to either clean it or replace it?

Any help would be apprrleciated.

Likely just the sending unit (sensor):

Check the wires plugged into it, clean em out and slap it together with some dielectric grease around the edge (and electric grease like GB Ox-Gard or Sanchem NO-OX on the individual pins if you have it)
