Easy answer: Compare a Cherokee XJ to a Cherokee FSJ or Grand Wagoneer. Axle widths tell a good story. The XJ is about the same width as the YJs and TJs which are not considered "large". JKs are massive lol

Thank you for your help. When hubby pulls out the switch again I will have him check the wiring. I know he has in the past. But you might be onto something with the lights. I bought the super bright ones because I am driving on super dark roads. I may have him pick up a pair of regular light and see if that helps.

Rear driveshaft issues on 94 Cherokee
Hey guys so recently I found out that I needed the rear axle u-joint replaced so I did so and was very simple. So About 500 miles or less really, it has gone out again... I can move the d.s at the slip yoke and move it somewhat do it has play. Can anybody tell me where to go from here? Haha I'm at a loss.

4.0 ticking/knocking only audible in cab
I'm new here obviously, but have gotten a lot of valuable advice and diagnostics from the forums here. I have a 1999 Cherokee Sport, 5 Speed, with 126,000 miles. When it is cold there is no knocking sound heard at all, however, once it is at operating temp, there is a soft, but definately audible knocking. I can only hear it when sitting in the cab at a stop light or idling in a parking lot. The knocking doesn't seem to increase with rpms, and in fact I can't here it when the rpms are above idling at all. I have crawled all around the bottom of the jeep, and under the hood, and can't here it except in the cab. It's driving me nuts. Valves? Do I just need a tune up? Just asking for any advice.
Thanks.
Thanks.

valve tapping is normal on these engines, especially as they age. Now if it's a loud knocking, not a light tapping, you have issues.

That is about the only thing I can figure. Thanks. Do you have any idea why I only hear it in the cab? I have tried to find it under the hood, and under the front end with no luck. Just wondering if you could shed any light on this.
Thanks again
