Default Xj Bogs/Dies While Driving

2001 XJ
Automatic 187k miles

Just replaced :
CPS
TPS
Battery
Plugs

Cleaned throttle body and IAC

Just drove 1400 miles to grand canyon, with almost no problems. Everytime i stopped and turned the car off, when I restarted it it would start right back up. But the first 10 minutes the car will periodically just loose all power. I'd just coast the highway high way and after 10 seconds it would resume back to normal after a few spudders. The I was good for 250 moles till I needed to fuel up again. It doesn't happen everytime I turn car off and on. And the two times I didn't get on the high way and was driving at lower speeds the car just died and took awhile to start back up. Usually. Letting it sit for a couple minutes helped as it would start right up.

Its gave me code P 1296 at the very beginning of the trip, which I cleared it didn't come back after the 1400 miles

Iv had suggestions that the ECM is going bad, but I don't want to pay 300 for something not to fix the problem.

Anything helps
Thanks!!

Yea I got that but the MAP sensor shouldn't cause the car to do this, should it?

Also just threw code p0340 on my way to work. It was for Cam sensor. I just replaced that, and I started it to evaluate my work, it started right up, as I put my tools away it just turned off. Code didn't come back though

I just recently had a huge debacle with my map sensor. That map sensor will jack your world up. Haha. My vacuum line to the map was off somehow. I would crank my jeep then it would idle really high then bog down and shut off. Did this for a while until I found the vacuum line undone. Look for cracks in the vacuum line. Very possible this could be your problem.

Vacuum line looks good. Guess I'll just replace it since it threw a code for it anyways.

I think symptoms point to fuel pump. I'm gonna have to go for a drive and be ready to test pressure one of these days to verify

Gas tank/evap venting ? What was the pressure like in the tank when you popped the cap off to refuel ? Suck or blow ? LOL, sorry....😜

I haven't noticed either. There shouldn't be pressure inside tank, right? Driving without gas cap would test this?

All I would say is my old jeep used to act like that and it was basically dying because the gas tank was building up vacuum. I doubt that now days with these high volume fuel pumps could get bogged down by vacuum but you never know. I could be worth a try. When you said Grand Canyon trip the change to a hot climate is what caused mine to start that same bog die routine.

Didn't even make it a mile without stalling/dieing without gas cap

Hey me too. At least once it's fixed, everything will be new and shouldn't fail....

I'd say replace the cap and rotor and recheck your spark plugs and make sure they haven't fouled since you replaced. You said you already replaced the TPS also and that was my second solution next to vacuum lines and map sensor.
