Xj cranks for like 5 seconds then starts
So my jeep recently started taking longer to start. It's cranks for about 5 seconds then starts like everything is fine. Used to start right up. I did put it a new exhaust manifold, intake manifold, and new 4 hole injectors in. My jeep started up fine before I did all that work to it. Doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warm, it does the same thing. Thanks for any responses!

Try turning the key on for 4 or 5 seconds, turn the key off. Then turn the key on and all the way to the Crank position and see if that prompts a faster start (Often referred to as a Poor Man's Prime). If it does I would suspect a small fuel leak causing the pressure to drop, and the wait you are experiencing is the system priming it self. If this helps the next step will be to put a Fuel pressure gauge on it and verify. You may have a leaky injector, either the injector itself or an O-ring got pinched. or another common failure is the check valve which is part of the Fuel Pump Assy.
Were these NEW injectors or JY injectors?

Ah yes, the poor man's prime lol. You kind of get used to it.
How long after your injector install did this start happening? If it was immediate, I would suspect a leaky injector.

If it cranks right up you probably have a fuel pressure regulator issue that is allowing the fuel pressure to drop. Cranking it causes the fuel pressure to come up to the 40(or so) psi.
If it's not that it could be the CPS.

If it's a 97+ turn the key to run then off about 3 times, not fast, but not slow. They try starting it.

But why would we need the same information twice in the same thread? A simple X2 works just as well. And the point of the forum is to add new information to a thread

Kinda glad he took the time to ask questions red xj... Google never shower me the first post regarding this issue.. just this one here... gotta think outside the box man, there's more xj people and similar vehicles more than ever now just getting older, breaking down, having old-timer issues, and the informations gotta get out there.. real welcoming community to shun a dude for asking questions that helped him... and created more of an answer than the original post that soposivly already went over this... Google obviously didn't suggest that.
anyways wow this post helped.
