Would the 3 led bulbs be too much?

But he said he thought it was too much. Would a 1 led bulb not be enough?

Here's what I used. They are 4 LEDs
Amazon.com: 8x T10 194 168 501 4-smd 3528 LED Car Light Bulb Blue: Automotive Amazon.com: 8x T10 194 168 501 4-smd 3528 LED Car Light Bulb Blue: Automotive

Yes in the pre 97 XJs you need to used these 194 LEDs, 1 for the transmission, 1 for the transfer.

Its not that using 4 LEDs is too much light. I replaced every light on the back of the cluster. So the problem I have is the lack of the blinker, high beam and hazard indicator lights.

Hope that helps you.

And they can still be dimmed out with the dimmer switch?

The dimmer switch will not dim them. Only on and off.

How come your gear indicator looks so bright compaired to the tcase? Will it just take some playing around to get it perfect?

I don't the film stuff in my gear indicator. So the light is bright in that area. The transfer is kinda painted on there so it's not as bright looking. Hope that makes sense.

The film I'm talking about goes under the gear letters and numbers. Yes they all come with it but mine was falling apart so I took it out when I installed my surefire mount. The film is what tells you which gear you are in.

The 194s will dim a little bit on my '95...make sure the bulbs are in the right way, I was putting mine in the sockets backwards...I don't think it should matter, but they wouldn't work until I flipped them around...so if you have no blinkers or high beam indicator, flip the bulb and it should work...I still have one bulb that doesn't work, I just don't feel like taking the dash apart again for it lol.

Just did my dash and shifting column in red. Haven't looked back, it's absolutely beautiful. The dash has no "hot spots" and I am very pleased with it. Sure, the shifting column is a bit bright, but I'm not too picky on that. Forbid I had to remove the light blue film piece thingy so the red would show through, and boy it sure does. I guess if I wanted I could come up with my own piece to put in there to dim it more.
