I'm not saying you're wrong because you're probably right. Weirder **** has happened to me with this jeep. Hahahaha

Then the Xj I pulled my cluster out of in the junk yard had a Tj cluster in it. I need glasses? Look at mine and yours they're the exact same. Would you like me to go a picture with the turn signal on so you can see? Lol

Once you put on any size oversided and don't change the gearing for your speedo you don't know how many miles are actually on it.
I had the original dumby lights in my xj anyways so I'm not really worried there about the mileage. All you do is take the
original speedo miles + (miles on new speedo - original miles on new speedo) = current mileage.

Wow, just read every page. Lots of good info but quite a bit of conflicting info too
Here is my 2 cents, sorry for adding to the confusion.
I have 3 XJs in my yard at the moment - 94,96,97. All 4x4 RHD 4.0 auto, 94 and 97 are sports models, the 96 is a Classic with over head console and all electrics. It might just be Aussie Jeeps or maybe all RHD, all of my dashes/instruments are the same ! Probably only 91 to 98s are like this here.
Attachment 189308
Attachment 189309
So I decided to do the LED mod and instead of relying on info from USA vehicles I pulled apart my dashes to check for myself.
Attachment 189310
Attachment 189311
As you can see my instruments need 8 LEDs (T10) and the warning lights need 10 (T5)
Attachment 189312
The 5 lower T10s have a blue film on them, all the rest of the globes in the XJ are clear.
I went through the rest of my Classic model XJ and here is the list of what I found and what I bought off eBay to replace (hopefully) every interior and a few exterior globes
Attachment 189315
Attachment 189314
The overhead console has 4 x large T10 globes, I will be using 20SMD T10 LEDs for these.
Attachment 189317
These large bright LEDs should (just) fit in the 4x map lights and also in the 2x foot wells and 1x glove box.
The rear dome light has a strange globe, so I thought a LED panel light would be a good replacement, found these and thought if they are not bright enough, then I am blind !! It is a 7watt ! COB.
Attachment 189318
For the instrument cluster I decided on 8x single white T10 LEDs. The 2 left over I will use in the shift indicator and transfer indicator
And for the warning lights these T5 B8.3D inserts I hope are the correct fit
For the ashtray light I found these BA9S globes, I just hope it fits.
I have also bought these 2 flat SMD T10s and will try them in the number plate lights.
I need 2 more T10 for the front 1/4 panel (over the wheel) indicators.
For the vanity lights in the sun-visors, they are 4x small bore 29 to 31 millimetre (about 1,1/4 inches) festoon globes. I bought 10x 6 SMD 31mm festoons because 10 was only $2 more than 2 of these ! , I hope they are bright enough for the wife !?! If not, I found some 12 SMDs that will fit but cost $6 each
All these should arrive in a few weeks and I will post again with photos once I have fitted (or tried to)
All up I have spent about $45 but will have a few spares.

Yay, most of my LEDs arrived today. Can't wait to get stuck in on Friday arvo and light up my life
Before I install I will test and mark the positive terminal of each light to make installation easier.
When I install them I will take before and after shots and do another long winded write up

So, I couldn't wait and had to see how bright these LEDs are. I tested the festoons in my corolla only because it was easier to change them quickly.
#1, standard 31mm festoon
#2, 6 SMD 31mm festoon
These globes have the positive and negative terminal marked on the back of the panel
#3, 7 watt COB panel with festoon adaptor
These panel lights have a red and black wire, so easy to tell polarity.
#4, OMFG that is bright !!!
From this little test I can see that the 6 SMDs are a more directional light and will work great in the sun visor/ vanity mirror lights and the panel light will kick *** as the rear dome light.
I'm already thinking I will get some 36 or 42 SMD T10s for the over head dome lights as the 20 SMDs may not be bright enough.
Stay tuned for the next episode of - The BB Jeeps channel, light up my life show.
Lol

Got too excited about the LEDs so I installed all the cabin lights ( except for all the dash lights ) in the BB jeep
Here are the before and after shots.
Overhead console map lights.
Vanity mirror lights.
Footwell lights.
Shift indicator lights ( forgot the before shot )
Rear dome light ( damn that's bright )
Front and rear shot of the end result.
I am very happy with how this turned out, it took me less than an hour including taking photos and cooking dinner.
You could easily read a book in my jeep now and not strain your eyes, the wife can do her makeup and not look like she just left clown college and the light in the back is bright enough for a workshop
( or to grow some vegetables hydroponically ).
Stay tuned for the next instalment of - The BB jeep's, you light up my life. Where I install my dash, instrument and warning lights.
Coming soon - exterior LED mod, indicators, brake lights, tail lights, reverse lights, number plate lights, park lights. ( just waiting for them to arrive).
