XJ door compatability
What years of Jeep's Cherokee will the doors swap to my '87? Going junkyarding Monday and hope to find some new front doors, already found the rear and I'm tired of having rear power windows and crank front windows.

you want 86 to 96 for a direct fit. inner door panel options differed as far as the arm rest goes. personally, i like the armrest that has the extra handle as opposed to the short flat style. then as for the wing window, some open, some don't.
97 to 01 does fit with the body lines, but the striker mechanism differed, but with some fab work, can be made to fit.
don't forget, comanche doors are the same as the front doors on a 4 door model. so if there's no cherokee doors you like, don't look away from the comanche doors.

Note that the "smoker windows" may be swapped at will - I've covered just how to do that before (probably here. Done it probalby a half-dozen times by now.) Also, there's no reason you can swap the inner door trim and armrest from your old doors to your replacements - so just get the paint colour matched up first.
