XJ Fan Shroud replacement
I've got a 2000 XJ with a 4.0. The top of the fan shroud is loose, and I've currently got it held in with wire-ties. It works, but I want to get it right.
Do I need to remove the radiator fan and motor to replace the fan shroud? It looks like a really tight fit in there. I looks like it would be tough to get the lower part out from around the fan blades.

I just ordered a new shroud for my 97. When it comes in I can tell you how it installs. I don't have to remove one, though, the PO seems to have lost it when he changed the radiator.

On my '98 4.0 I managed to replace it without having to remove anything else. Bit of a fiddle, but not difficult.
Mind you, I replaced the radiator and couldn't get it back in then. Had to put it over the fan before putting the radiator in place.

Just installed my new shroud. Super simple. slip it around the fan, get the tabs into the holders on the bottom and bolt it on. Less than 10 minute install.

You shouldn't need to take it out. Have the top two screws pulled through the plastic? If so, use some washers. If not, you may just need two threaded clips and two screws.

Thanks for the feedback. Also for the partsgeek link. As cheap and easy as it is, I'm going to go ahead and knock this out...

Had to remove the fan and clutch on mine to get the shroud in. I could not, no matter what I tried, slip the shroud between the fan and radiator. I didn't want to damage the radiator so I just removed the bolts holding the clutch to the pulley, put the shroud in and put the fan back in. Was a lot easier.
