Mine came today. Five minute installation, once you get the shroud around the fan, tip the top away from you. This will allow you to see the slots and drop the shroud into them. That lines up the two top screws, tighten em up and go for a drive.

I tried and tried but I have no idea how you guys are getting the shroud around that fan. It is so close to the radiator bah grrr.... Mine is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee right hand drive 4.0 L inline 6, are you guys running the grand Cherokee or regular Cherokee?

I own a '00 myself. The bottom tabs were broken on the fan shroud. My OCD made me replace it. It just so happened I needed a new fan clutch too. So that kinda worked out. Thing was is no matter how hard I tried I could not get the shroud out with everything else in place. I know that people say they get it out but.... The fan clutch replacement would have been less awkward with the fan shroud out of the way. Pulled the fan clutch, removed the old shroud, put the new shroud in, and bolted up the new fan clutch. If I was just replacing the fan clutch with an old shroud still in place I would have cut the shroud down the middle at the bottom. Removed it. Did what I needed to do. Drill 2 holes on either side of my cut in the fan shroud. Put in back in and zip tie it. Thing was is I did not want to hack up my brand new fan shroud.

Default Radiator Fan Shroud Replacement

I was having the same issue others were having. I could not shimmy the shroud around the fan no matter what I was doing. I even started to damage the radiator a bit. After reading and watching youtube, I didn't want to take off the fan. So, in order to "shove" the shroud around the fan/clutch, I ended up trimming/tapering the bottom portion of the shroud. After doing that, it slid around the fan and the tabs secured the bottom in place. I then secured the two screws at the top and it was all done. I figured the top portion of the shroud was more important than the bottom since the top portion of the existing shroud was missing altogether. My teenage son drives the XJ and I didn't want him to lose any fingers checking under the hood.

Literally just did this. A little trimming and it slipped right past.

Ive never been able to get a non broken shroud into or out of an XJ without removing the fan first. My steps.

Remove airbox
Remove the efan
Loosen the belt tensioner
Unbolt fan and shroud and remove as a unit
Reverse steps.

Same here. When I put in a new fan clutch awhile back decided to replace the shroud cause it had a broken tab. It was fun working around the fan shroud.
I just did a water pump and tried again to pull the shroud out. I couldn't get it out. Wasn't really in my way so.....
I have watched videos for fan clutch and water pump repairs and they just take it out like it is nothing.

I have removed my fan shroud several times, while it is tight I have always been able to remove the shroud without removing anything else.

I got everything back together after a radiator replacement... turned around... and there was the shroud laying on the floor

At the bottom of the shroud I drilled 2 lines of 3 or 4 holes, cut it between the lines, put the shroud around the fan, then "stitched" it back together with zip ties through the holes.
lol
