Here is how I understand it. The ECU case is already grounded internally. And the ECU gets its reference ground from the engine block through the harness. Most manufacturers want to try and shield the ECU from electrical noise in some way.. wether it be by having insulated bracketry to mount the case, or having the external chassis isolated from the internal ECU grounds via some sort of resistor set-up.

Most advice says to never ground the case if it can be helped. It may not effect anything but, it can affect shielding and hurt the ECU. Or, harm functioning. This is what I just read anyway...

Yeah I’m so happy rn, ima change the oil and put it back together, also by any chance does anybody know the difference in ecu’s

that is the old original 89 one


and the green is the “new” one from the 88
the only difference I see is the sticker color and the last 3 digits and letter

53005429 looks to be for a manual. 56006078 for an auto.

Yeah we’ll the green one was pulled from an auto we’ll see if it really makes a difference sofar it’s been driving good all day today
