Don't overdue it, just put a second clamp next to it.
Judging by the color of the ATF, that looks pretty good (I like to emphasise the positive things in life

I've seen posted before a week battery can cause trouble with your Jeep. I don't get it as the alt should be keeping voltage up, and heck it started. Anyway a 4 year old battery doesn't owe you anything, you might want to rule that one out.

I had the same idea, but this old battery is only 300 CCA. It gets a little sketchy trying to turn it over in -10 degree weather. Wouldn't hurt it to upgrade to a stronger battery. The other night I put a large load on it in my driveway. I turned in my brights, fog lights, rear defroster, and front defroster with the fan on high and ran my CD player...the battery gauge sunk down 2.5 notches.

I was worried about not flushing the tranny first but you're right, the fluid looked pretty red and clean puddled on the ground. Optimism and xj ownership should go hand in hand. Yeah..the first fix didn't fix it; yeah, I'll need to spend money on it again; but! I get to play more jeep auto shop!

I like DFlintstone's quote: "a 4 year old battery doesn't owe you anything"
Your XJ doesn't do well with a marginal battery. It's winter over at your place, thats putting the batt under even more strain. Its 300CCA, its old. I'd say, time for an refreshing upgrade!

I'm in agreement with both of you, down to the parts store for a new battery!

Ok! So.
I've been fiddling with the wiring on the jeep and am a smidge closer to resolving my check engine light issue. Hopefully someone has had this issue and can help me out.
Since I'm shooting the PCM/CKS code it should be something to do with one of those sensors. Both are brand new, bought from Jeep. So the sensors themselves though be alright.
Started at the camshaft sensor next to the oil pressure gauge. Stripped off all the plastic and tape. All the wires besides being a little oily looked great. No kinks, nothing was broken.
Disconnected the wire harness that the sensor feeds into. The wire harness' teeth and ports look clean, no corrosion, no dirt. When i reconnected the harness the CEL went off! But then came back on. Disconnected and reconnected and the same thing, stayed off then a few minutes later illuminated again.
That harness is frustrating me, I can't seem to get it connected again enough to slide that orange bracket back. It stays connected and the jeep drives great, but I'm worried it's going to wiggle itself off.
Well. Could it be the harness or a wire after the harness? It must be something with the camshaft position sensor. When I replaced the sensor I did not replace the part that extends down into the engine, just the sensor itself. There isn't any issue with the jeep running so I figured that piece should be working the way it should.
This CEL is so frustrating, I'm going to throw a huge party when it's fixed.
