Default XJ Mini Overhead Console?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-...mZ180265378458

Just wondering if anybody has tried to retrofit one of these. I don't need the whole overhead console as I have a soundbar up front that would conflict with a full length overhead.

But it'd be really cool to just get the map lights and the display with all the cool stuff.

Any ideas on wiring or experience or anything?

Hmm Well I dunno but if you had all the wiring it should work...You could always get it and head to the JY and get the wiring parts..

You could always pull one out of another car as well if you just wanted the map lights. Long as it has a similar wiring system.

ddead the wiring is in the passenger side kick panel. Mine has the full console and the plugs are already in your wiring harness you just need the mini bundle from the kickpanel to the console. You need to pull the headliner down or fish the mini bundle through. The brackets to secure the overhead console is also already in place just unused on the low end models.
Hope this info helps.

That's good info, thanks Blue. Do you think the wiring/plugs will be the same though? This is out of a 97 ZJ.... :/

If the 97s model year came with an overhead then probably so. It is more expensive to have seperate harnesses for each submodel that to have a single harness to use for every XJ model that rolls off the assembly line. So the XJ has the plug you have to figure out if the mini's harness will plug into the existing XJ harness. If not then you will have to use your multimeter to find which pins in the XJ plug does what for the console. The larger consoles had a compass as well as lights. Newer stuff (mine's is a '90) may have more things wired into the overhead consoles.
