Hey im new here and i recently just picked up a 2000 Cherokee sport wit 97,xxx miles. Being new with the whole jeep thing i have a few questions. Is it normal for my oil pressure to go down from 40 to some where below 20 when im coming to a stop and when my car is at a stop my back end seems to rattle dont know if this stuff is normal or not. Plse give me some feed back? Thanks

Yes, the stock oil pressure gauge is hard to read accurately. If you have somehwere between 20-40 at idle, you're good.
As for the rattling, Dude, it's a Jeep. These little rattles develope and you just have to periodically hunt them down and tighten stuff up. Is the rattle in tha back as in by the hatch or in the back as in around the rear suspension? Either pop the inside cover off the hatch and look around for loose wires, speakers, wiper motor, etc. there is all kinds of stuff in there that can get loose and rattle. If the noise is coming from the rear suspension area get underneath and look for loose exhaust mounts, check out all rubber bushings for loose, worn or gone pieces. This will cause bigtime rattles. I hope this helps.

You will soon fall in love with your XJ, don't worry. Mine rattles like crazy. Scares the passengers but I know it's okay.

All normal. My XJ has just over 46,000 on it, got it with 19,000 and my oil pressure does the same thing. As far as rattles its a Jeep thing LOL

My '93 idles at 22 when warm and runs 45 at highway speeds, she's got 194k miles. Not sure what the '94 does, since it's got idiot lights. Rattles are normal on these things, but most likely if it's coming from behind you, it's probably related to the hatch. Chances are one of the clips holding the interior panel to the hatch is busted.
