Something about having a distributor, a regular coil, spark plug wires, etc is more comforting to me too.
Not that there is anything really wrong with having a coil bar.
Maybe cause I am old. LOL.

Already scoped that out and talked to those guys.
Thinking buy the harness and bracket.
Buy a real Mopar coil and the guy at Kfab said that Grand Caravan wires, around an '02 vintage, should work.
He did say 1 or 2 might be slightly longer then they need to be though.
Those I can just buy through the store.

Exactly. For example, if there are 1 million XJ owners answering....that would be 1 million people telling you that a 96 XJ Sport in black is definitively the best XJ. Upon release, it was awarded "Best Vehicle in the Universe" by an independent panel made up of representatives from all the major manufacturers.

You most certainly could get a limited slip in the 8.25, I was unfortunate enough to have one in my 97 country edition.

My understanding is later '96 and up would be the 29 spline count.
Sound right?
I figure if I could get my hands on one, in a 3.55, rebuild it (clutch packs and all), and do the disc brake swap.
At the same time have all the parts for the 231 to 242 swap (prefer to find a parts Jeep so I can grab everything for the 242 at once),
have the rear leafs for the Up Country suspension, and do it all at once.
My buddy says he can handle the diff so......
I see that they sell the Trac Lok carriers separately (about $300), then there is a Detroit Locker which is an option (but about twice the Trac Lok)
so I think it would just be easier and cheaper to try and find an 8.25 with one already.
Jeep is just a DD and I want to get around in the snow if necessary. If I was thrashing around out there still like the rest of you guys then I would
take a different approach.
But those days are long over. LOL.
My thing is that I would not deal with the front right away. Thinking let it settle, see where I am at, if I can get by with coil spacers maybe keep
the springs that are on there and use them. But thinking have to be no more of a spacer then 1" or so. Even with just a DD.
If I have to buy the Moog coils I have to buy the Moog coils. Plus control arm bushings just because.
I even toy with the idea of buying Mopar Up Country leafs just cause they are still available.
The pricing on them is not bad. Where you get killed is on the bushings cause they don't come with them.
Not like any of this is going to happen anytime soon.

I wouldn't waste money on the factory limited slip it's junk. I pulled mine out and put an open carrier with a Spartan locker in, also swapped the 242 out for a 231. If you want a good limited slip get a Truetrac.

Yeah with just a DD thinking the locker is not the way to go. 242 gives me the Full Time 4WD which I think for a DD would be a better option. And while I would love to get the Truetrac best I could find with a quick Google is about $645.
Spending the money itself it not really a problem but justifying spending a $1000 for a rear, figure by the time everything is all set and done, for a DD that might be worth 3K tops is tough.
If I could find a 8.25 with the LSD with a little luck could pull off everything for about 3/4's of that.
Even then this is not one of my brighter ideas.

If you have an automatic you won't hardly notice a locker in the rear, a manual transmission makes it more noticeable but is still easy to get used to. A locked rear and open front is a great setup for driving in the snow.

I love my stk. 96, AX-15 5spd. 8.25 rear set up,
actually gonna swap out the factory 3:07 front and back diffs. For a factory 3:55 Chrysler 8.25 with factory LSD.
and 3:55 high pinion front in the spring time.
