xj to zj tie rod/drag link upgrade
Had some new shocks put on a couple weeks ago at a local chain shop and noticed my tie rod at the pitman arm was shredded, in fact all the tie rod ends were toast. So I asked how much to just replace the one at the pitman... $350. I laughed and told him I could replace all of them for that or less. Found the "zj" drag link, tie rod, tie rod ends plus picked up sway bar links and sway bar bushings -all Moog -all brand new for $250 online. Replaced them all yesterday. The steering is definitely heavier/stiffer but I'm surprised that there is still significant play in the steering wheel.
Maybe I need to upgrade the steering box now? Or Maybe I'm just not used to it yet?
Brand new steering dampner/stabilizer also added a couple weeks ago.
'99 4.0 classic 4x4 basically stock.

Track bar got replaced about two years ago with a Moog also. Control arm bushings look good although have probably never been replaced. She is riding on 30" Duratracs. I don't expect her to handle like a Porsche. Just thought the new tie rod ends would tighten her up more than they did. Oh and replaced the front left wheel bearing hub about a year and a half ago. Front right is fine.
