I like it and if the tie ins are strong enough go for it. As for the brush guard that price isnt bad and you cant beat the look

ironically, he called back to futher talk about the bumper...

this one...
http://www.cassidyscustom.com/pics/b...pbumper004.jpg

he said if i wanted to take my bumper off then meet him up at his shop he would bend a piece right there for me however i wanted and weld it on...the bumper on the link i posted would be 245 he said with a brushguard, and the tie ins apparantly...

but i still want to be 110% if the tie ins, are in fact "tie ins" and will get the job done properly...

I am glad you are being cautious with it. There are alot of people out there selling junk for cheap. Don't be the guy that gets taken advantage of. You work hard for your money and would hate to see it go to waste.

Even if you could reinforce the front holes, where you removed the two nut caps, how would you reinforce the back hole that has the nutzert inserted into the Unibody???

^ i drilled that out to 1/2 inch and knocked the nut out.

kinda a bad pic... that was before i drilled the hole but u get the picture. i used 3 grade 8's on each side..
just another option for those who want to use a bumper that only mounts too the stock 3 holes

A bumper mounted to that is fine. I only have a problem if you intend to use said bumper for recovery or mounting a winch.

Look at it this way if you post that it is ok. You will get a warning from me if you keep posting it is ok then I will BAN ya for insisting on unsafe wheeling practises. I hope i am making myself clear to everyone.

To richxj89 I wasnt callin you out or anything this is more less a Blanket statement.

putting a vote of NO in for the bumper. I like the wrap around's too though. I think this bumper will look cheesy and kinda small on your xj.

If it is just for rock crawling then it would serve the purpose. It would give you all the clearance and angles you want. But other than that.....

i would try to find a bumper that ties into the unibody more than 3 places on one side when you do a side pull with a winch that could be bad but if you are not planning on a winch or using it as a strong recovery point then get it

Run a search on NAXJA and you will see what I am talking about JCR's unibody tie-ins.

This was a quick search over there but it shows mounting it almost a foot back into the unibody.

Basically the idea is you want to use the same spots if not more that you would for Stock tow hook brackets

Okay this is not a pic of a bumper but you can see my unibody tie-ins for my front tow points it uses the three existing steering box bolts. This would be similiar to mounting a winch plate or recovery bumper.

If the guy is willing to strengthen it up for you that would be the best bet. Otherwise it looks like decent craftsmanship so I say yes.
