Default ZJ springs in an XJ?

I read somewhere that you can use ZJ coils in a Cherokee. Is this true? If so will it give me any lift?

Yes the front coils will give you about 1-1.25 inches I have heard.

Stock coils from the front of a v8 equipped ZJ will net about 1-2" of lift depending on the age and condition of the springs. Thats a lot of work for little gain, but if your after a little lift then I suppose it's worth it.

Don't be so negative Frank. A little lift is what many ppl want and this is a good one but the AAL in the rear is the only way I see to get that small a lift in the rear unless the shackles are changed and the leafs left alone.

It sure is. He'd be better off adding a coil spacer. Less work, same increase in ride height.

Right on on this...

And a side note, it's no more work to do Coil spacers than it is to do Coil replacement. I have yet to be able to do spacers with out removing the coils.. Might just be me though..

I always saw using a ZJ coil with a spacer was a good combination for lifting the front pretty cheap. But a ZJ coil on it's on is not really worth the effort. Although putting a new coil spring in and adding a spacer is about the same work in my opinion.

It took me about 3 hours to put in my coil spacers by myself using spring compressors, its not my favorite of jobs

ya baer i would agree not the most fun job in the world but i thought it was worth it, putting spacers in and putting new coils on is the exact same about of work. To in stall spacers u need to take the coil off and put the spacer on top of it.
