No fuel/spark
Looking for a little assistance here. I have a '97 XJ, vanilla - 5 spd, 2.5, 2wd w/ 170k on it. This little jeep was supposed to run forever....
A few weeks ago it wouldn't start. Had all the symptoms of a bad fuel pump. Fuse checked good, swapped relay w/ starter, all good. Pump wouldn't run. Ordered/installed a new pump.
Initially on the first two cranks the pump didn't prime - I didn't think anything of it after the third try it primed and jeep ran fine, for about a week.
Then it came back again. No pump priming. Turn key to 'on', all lights come on dash as advertised, then go away almost immediately as if the thing is running. Oil and battery lights go off. Hooked my scanner to it, and scanner says vehicle is not connected. Went and checked for spark and nothing. Swapped coils from my '96 ZJ and still no spark.
I'm suspecting the PCM may be bad, and would like to try it with a known good one. Anyone got one? I believe the Wrangler 2.5 PCM would work as well.....or, if you've got one to sell or know somebody locally that would be great!
TIA
