so i took her for a drive today! went to the bank then got gas then got tabs and went for about a 20 mile drive. i got it up to about 65mph today and there were no shakes at all! the leafs even ride softer than the coils i had it is a little rough because i cant balance the bead locks but the arisoft bbs seemed to help. the steering tracks perfectly straight and there was no bumpsteer at all. as i drove the brake pedal seemed to get stiffer so now i feel comfortable driving it around town. i also got some mud flaps thrown on so it is a little more street legal. i decided not to waste my time putting stock flares back on and just wait till i start getting bugged by the popo then make my tube flares. here is some pictures of the jeep and flexing
whoever said leafs cant flex is crazy!

but if you trailer the rig and had the axles then I can understand that. Would I build a full width axle? No. There are many many different axles out there that will squeeze through the trails with no difficulty. Also you have to think that Evans, Reiter, and Walker are in talks of axle width limitations. Last I heard they have all somewhat agree'd on 79"wms, which he's over.
besides that looks like a fun build!

Im 93 inches wide and i fit every where iwheel elbe evans natches rim rock tahuya you name it and i fit down every trail. Full width axels are cheap to build and the wrecking yards a re full of them for spare parts. I run a ford 8 lugg 44 front with chevy outers and a full floater 14 bolt in the rear and i love it. This is my 4th rig on full size axles.

ummm you obviously have not wheeled. He will have some difficulty on some trails. Not even close to street legal. Eventually will have axle wrap. The list goes on.

the rear measures only 80" so its only like two inches wider on either side compared to the stock axle. why not do something different than all the other cherokees? i have been wheelin my whole life so yes i know the ups and downs of leafs in the front. you get axle wrap in the front no mattter what you run. i dont see how leafs would stop me from going anywhere over links? o and they will never be able to manage the width of rigs anywhere no matter how hard they try.
i will be street legal in the next few weeks and yes i drive it on the road. throw some flares on it and it will be legal. so why wouldnt you go full width?

so i took a drive up to the woods to give her a little off pavement test. the first thing i noticed was the rear suspension. i put my heavy *** tool box in the back of my jeep which weighed the rear down quite a bit. every time i hit a bump the rear shocks would bottom out and make for a horrible ride. i have 10" travel shocks in the rear right now. i plan on fixing this by making a new upper shock mount so i can angle the shocks for better ride. i am also debating on ordering some shackle relocation brackets to give a little extra heighth and better shackle angle.
besides the rough rear suspension, the front felt amazing! i can honestly say it road smoother than coils! no complaints at all there.
the other issues i discovered were my rear pinion angle being too steep and a leaky axle. when i gave it a little gas the axle wrap would make the pinion angle a little too steep. when i set the pinion angle i didnt think about axle wrap... newby mistake... so i now have to pull the rear end and move the mounts a tad bit.
after i was flexing out and driving over uneven terrain i noticed one side of my rear axle leaking grey goo. (water + gear oil = grey goo) when i got it home i replaced the outer axle seal.so hopefully that fixes that.
thats about all of my updates at the moment. i will hopefuly have the pinion angle fixed along with new shock mounts made by the end of the week. might even have my rock sliders mounted
