well i finally got my front diff guard so i could mount the hydro ram. i wasted no time in getting it mounted. it took me a few hours to get the mounts in the right position where it wouldnt hit anything then welded and painted them. i will post some pictures of this when i get some time. my project for today is to figure out how to bleed the damn ram then finish up the frame work so i can get my sliders on for elbe next weekend

here are a couple pictures from when i just got the guards

so i bled the hydro assist and came upon another predicament. i took it for a test drive and noticed some wierd stuff. whenever the jeep was under 1500 rpms i couldnt turn the tires. but anything over that it turned like it was supposed too. i had a feeling this was going to happen. i am not getting enough flow from the stock pump to get the ram moving at low rpms. so i went ahead and did the "west texas mod". which was to drill out the fitting in the high pressure line from the steering pump to 3/16s. i am also going to order up the PSC 4.5" diameter power steering pulley which should give me the lower rpm power that i need.
i also got the main frame rail plating just about done. needs a few more welds and we are good to go

here are some pictures of the progress i made on the steering. i welded tabs on the tie rod and on the SOLID diff cover that just came in the mail.

Hey Junior! Steerings looking good. Is it just a bad angle on the picture or is that adjustable tierod end on your draglink where it hooks to the steering arm, bent??

Can't wait to see the big green monster in action up at Elbe.

I see how that would work .. on my car i often have to tap the break-lights because the backup lights are not that bright, but what confuses me is how you don't get pulled over or how you pass inspection? Here in NY and NJ its illegal not to have them .. I had a roommate that sorta restored a 78 jeep for a daily driver and left off the reverse lights too, but got pulled over 3 months after driving it again.

there really arent any inspections over here. cops around here are too stupid to realize i have no reverse lights

Your lucky. Here in NY state we have to have the vehicle inspected once a year by a licensed inspection station where they place a sticker on the car once it passes inspection. The stickers expires every 12 months. Also when we have to renew our registration on the car they send us a form where we need to write in the latest valid inspection sticker number on the car. If we don't the then we cant renew and have to turn in the tags or pay a fine. SO i guess someone over hear could get away with it for maybe couple years till the tags expire after you 1st register the car.

I would just bolt a tiny fog light to the rear bumper or to the spare tire gate and hook it up. It would keep the dam 5-O off my but, plus it would **** people off that are behind me when i back up .. which i enjoy dooing..lol

A friend of mine did that on his truck and he hooked up and interior toggle override switch So he can turn it on while not in reverse, and zap the jackasses that would give him the brights. He didn't use a little fog light tho..lol
