Check your harmonic balancer. Their known to be a problem on 4.0. The pulley and inner part should be flush on the front side. Had the pulley move back about a 1/16th of an inch on one and the edge of the belt rubbed on the lip of the pulley squealed like hell.

Re: Water pumpreplacement, \'89 XJ
I'm pretty sure your 89 is the same setup as my 87. I have done it twice on mine already (the first pump was defective and went after about 15,000 miles) in the 3 years I have had it. It is pretty simple though. First, loosen the bolts holding the pulley on the water pump while you still have the belt in. Then, take out your air filter and unbolt and remove the airbox completely, this makes it much easier to get to the power steering pump bolts. After that, loosen the 3 bolts holding the power steering pump on, but don't remove them. Next, loosen the bolt on the lower right side of power steering pump to let the tension off the belt, remove the belt, and remove the pulley from the water pump. Now, take the hoses off the water pump (have a bucket ready), and remove the bolts holding the pump to the block and pull the pump out (you may need a few taps with a hammer). Then just clean off your gasket surfaces, put the new gasket on with some gasket sealer, and bolt everything back together and fill her up with some antifreeze. Should't take more than 2 maybe 3 hours tops. If you are at all leary of doing this, just pick up any Haynes of Chiltons manual, it has it all in there. Good luck, hope this helps.

By chance does anyone know of a good area to live in AZ? We are seriously thinking of moving down there. We are thinking of the flagstaff area. We don't want to live in Phx or areas that the summer heat is unbearable. This sounds dumb as well but any job leads would help... Thanks peeps
