Dang dude why all the hate?
its a hell of a lot smoother driving,
doesn't have gnarly bump steering or wander all over the place. Has tint AC cruise control
some girl broke my door key in my 89 so I can't open the hatch or lock my doors on my 89
all the windows rattle and all the weather stripping is garbage on it so it leaks.
It needs ball joints
Trans leaks
Pops out of first gear.
Also the 98 is auto which is what I want I don't like 5spd in Jeeps.
Other then a front bumper 4.5 lift 33's wheels skyjacker track bar and a beefy tie rod it is stock and drives just like stock.
Only issue we found with it 2 codes p0700 and p1698 which is trans mission tcm problem and a emissions thing.
Transmission was rebuilt a year ago shifts Just fine and everything only thing I noticed is the tach and speedo turn on or off. That's it.
Plus the Guy has a wrecked 99 sitting in his driveway and said if I need and parts at all to call him and he'd hook it up.
And I stated I was gunna start swapping parts between the two, I have a couple coil spring isolators that are 1/2-3/4" and would take care of the stink bug level

Also my tan one the front axle housing is bent the rear differental growls needs a trans and motor mounts its got a top speed of 60mph
For what I paid for the red one I wouldn't have the 89 anywhere near as nice is the 98 all power locks power windows all work flawlessly and the aftermarket support for the 98 is so much better.
I mean i like my tan one don't get me wrong buts its 21 years old. All the vacuum lines are starting to go the doors stick it was definately a upgrade

Everything is bolt on so it really doesn't matter too much if it were stock er not to me because if I ever wanna make it a trail rig I can r&r whatever parts I want to make it a capible trail rig.
Its going to be my daily until I can afford something else.
