Its really making me mad. Tranco says if it was the tranny it would be doing it in all gears. I dont think so. Desert Rat says its the tranny. They are willing to change out the gears for me and get me a new set. If it fixes it then they will eat the cost. If it doesnt then they said i will have to pay for it. It started happening right after i got the gears so i swear its that but idk how much faith to have in myself. I dont have the 800 for parts and labor right now.

Just a question I'm tossing out there cuz I was talking and wondering but it doesn't sound right. I know a jeep is basically always turning the front drive shaft and its not engaged in 4 wheel until the tcase is shifted nd the vacuum activates the hubs but would it be possible for someone to install a SYE and get it to always be engaged in 4wheel as if shifted into 4wheel???
Long question but idk just got me confused.

86-90 I believe had the vac unit. After that they used a one piece shaft for the pass side. The 242 transfer case you "can drive" in 4wd. Its mostly better for snowy weather where, you don't have to keep switching for 2wd to 4wd. You can travel up to about 30-45mph without messing anything up.

My jeep don't have vacuum. Yeah front drive shaft always turns. But is never engaged until I put it in. I'm not bring it tomorrow. I'm taking my driveshaft to u joint to had them check it out and balance and replace the u joints if needed.
My uncle who is a mechanic for ford said the double Cardon drive shafts make a weird humming noise. That's bull if it does. Never heard of it. But that's on fords.
