OK, I couldn't wait....

safety inspection done.... failed....
Missing mud flaps (easy)
Battery tie down (easy apparently a bungeei cord is not sufficient)
Exhaust leak (not so easy will probably have to have it welded)

...Over-whole I think I did a good job haha

were did you take it?
take it out to teds on the highway. just turn out on the highway from your house and head south it is right on the highway, just put the flaps on and it will be good. one thing that he checks is the e-brake so make sure that works other then that he is signal brake lights, OK and pay.

yeah I took it to the jiffy lube. the guy was nice and since someone mentioned they are a little more strict, I kind of wanted that to make sure it was somewhat safe.... Plus the guy was nice too
And he was nice enough to take me around and show me hands on the things that are good, the ones that are barely OK and what will definitely need replacement.
I am not joking when I say I am very satisfed though haha I have been driving the jeep on the highway it is changing from the driveway lol
I have installed the battery tie down and tomorrow I am going shopping for mud flaps. I have a bit of credit from my wife since having the jeep made us save a bunch of money on insurance..... we pay less now with 3 vehicles than with only 2 (changed company too for that)

Thats not too much to have to work on. Mines coming up end of September and I have to do my exhaust manifold luckily Josh from the forum here has offered to help me out with one, thanks again Josh. The only other thing I'm concerned with them getting me on is the mudflaps, I too will most likely follow Ryans lead on that one.

are you going to stay with the stock manifold or are you steeping up to a header?

I'm just replacing it with a stock replacement for now as I don't really have the dough to upgrade at the moment.

yeah these safety inspections are a necessary pain in the rear end.... But I like the idea that I am driving a somewhat safe vehicle.
Here in Logan, no emission test so I guess we have a slightly better chance. I actually don;t understand how it is possible that there is no emission control. This is one of the most polluted county.... anyway the safety control is a bit of a joke in my opinion and mostly subject to the inspector mood....
Not comparing but in France the control is automatized.... they pass your car on the bench to measure brake efficiency, suspensions, emission, they even measure the efficiency of the headlights with a machine and stuff like that 116 control points. So yes I am not complaining

So I have started gathering the part to make these mud flaps.... next time I'll read better as I took 3ft bars instead of 4ft...oh well tomorrow is another day I kept the receipt lol

Steph on the 1" tube you might only need the 3' length, but the 1/2" tube your gonna want the 4' legth to mount to the mud flap & have room to adjust it! Also there's always other places to mount them cause I just did what was quick & easy! If I did it again I would mount them to the frame with self tappers just behind the wheel wells like where the rear exost hanger is on the passenger side...

Almost done, I just have to get some fasteners to fix it to the bumper I guess. Not much room to go with the bumper and the hitch but that will work... So I shamelessly copied Ryan's design..... For sure it covers the width and height of the tire....
Couldn't find 3/4" square tubes so I went with the angled ones. I guess I'll put some pictures sometime since you know that will be my first ever "fabricated" thing.

So, it has been quiet here, how is everybody doing ?
I had a nice week end in the Uinta around mirror lake. My little basic Santa Fe rocks lol... took it on a very bumpy dirt road pulling a small trailer with the familly in and she didn't fail us lol

Then Thanks again to AlwaysXJ (Steve) that was kind enough to weld my ugly muffler repairs.... good to go as far as safety control now....
