OK SO...... Im in the process of building my front bumper as I type this (hoping it will be done by tomorrow afternoon) BUT.. what do you guys think, should I make it removeable or just weld the brackets to the unibody (probably be stronger this way, and a lot easier for me to build)

seems kind of pointless to me if your going through all that trouble and then not having the bumper be very strong....my prerunner bumper was welded straight to the frame of 99 ford and that thing was STRONG. i was thinking of making it removable but then it just loses a lot of its strength.
are you mounting a winch to it?

yes mounting a winch to it, well kinda, its going to be mounted to a winch plate and the rest of the bumper is going to be built around that

I think welded or bolted your not going to be looking at that big of a strength difference really. I opted for bolt on in case I change my mind on bumper style and decide to go a different direction, or need to remove it for other repairs etc. Just my $.02.

I dont know what other repairs I will have to do where I would need to remove it, I think I will just weld it cause I broke 3 of the 4 bolts off on the towhook brackets and those are a part of what it was going to be bolted to, so fk it lol

make it so it comes off you dont wan't to be stuck with the same bumper, and in all reality i would rather have a grade 8 bolt break than my unibody tear.

Are you sure your not looking at the vaccum reserve canister Sean? On the XJ it hides behind the bumper.
