Well just finished replacing my hub bearing. Damn parts for my bastard pack aren't going to be in until next week
but i did get the springs from the junkyard so lift is going to have to wait until my next week off.
Broke the axle stud for my sway bar link yesterday so time to drill and and replace with grade 8 bolts

At dinner with my Mom and Stepdad tonight he and I got talking about the XJ, what my plans for it are etc. I told him I've read Monster Garage how to weld damn near anything (said he would'nt teach me to weld until I read it) he told me to figure out what designs I like for bumpers or anything else and we'll make a project of it. Then he told me he's sitting on a whole bunch of 3/16 & 1/4" plate steel we can use and his son in law owns a machine shop and he can get me a screaming deal on powdercoating. I feel like I just won the frigging lottory!!!!!!!

So r u guys gonna have everything all fixed/mounted up before the 28th???
what kinda deal r we talkin on powder coating jeff?
I called around to all the other steel suppliers, but they all only sell in mega bulk! I think we should just go through wasatch steel, cause we can get the smaller pieces cut to lengths as needed! Here the blue prints I drew up...

Don't you hate waiting for your new toys! Are you talking about the pin that the lower end of your swaybar link attaches to? I'll check my hardware I hung onto when I did my discos(tommorow, they're at work) I think I might have one. If I do I'll send it to you. If thats the pin your talking about I'd worry about a bolt tearing up your bushings.
Ryan, i plan on having everything fixed by our trip on the 28th so i can test it out. Your plans look sweet those are going to be awsome!!!!!

Looks like a good design Ryan, I like your idea of stiffening up the Unibody at the same time. You going to use self tappers or run bolts all the way through the uni?
I don't know as far as the powdercoating as of yet, he just offered the help and I did'nt want to push my luck with asking prices. Once we get something built and I get to know dude, I'll have a better idea.
I should have my stuff mounted up and ready to go on time, scheduled delivery is the 15th. I just need to talk the boss into giving me some shop time to make things easier, I was hoping to use POR-15 on all the mounting surfaces between the sliders and the XJ for rust prevention, but they suggest you don't use it in high humidity when you apply it. So I'll have to see about that step, might have to be done later on in the summer.

Ryan, those slider drawings look good. Here are some that someone else on here posted and someone said they were right on:
I don't know if I'll be able to do anything to my XJ before this trip (a lot of other stuff going on), but I'm gonna run it either way!
