The way I see things...
Forward facing driving or off road lights at night for wheelin do two things.
1. make it easy to see things for you. Like flying down the trail at 35+ mph and having alot of fun
2. They blind the person in front of you horribly, especially when you are on an obsticle. Or unless you are leading or in an open area of the trail. My high power driving lights are pointed more to the ground then ahead of me.
Off...
On...
Rock lights do make it easier for everyone in a group. When pointed down the more glow the area around you. They do take more abuse being under the vehicle. After the trip to Hurricane, only one of my rock lights and one driving light still work. Bulbs can break easily and the impact of hitting the frame and bumpers on rocks can break them as well. Im looking into the led lights to replace my lights now. Even though the rock lights were just cheap walmart fog lights, they are bright and do work well. LED's do draw alot less power though.
Just something to think about

I have them pointed down quite abit, I asked a few different people that i followed if it bothered them, they said my head lights shined more in there mirrors then the ones on the roof. I want to get some "rock" lights seen a few jeeps with them and really liked the way it looked, It looked very usable!

Ah cool. You done it right then. Now just get the relays and switch hooked up and your set
May i suggest that you put them on two sets. One being the outers and the middle. The other being the two in between the middle and outer. Or just whats left lol. gives you the option of how much light you want and cuts the load on the power wire(s) down.

I agree with Camel, the overhead lights are great for running the long dirt roads at night, but other than that I don't turn mine on too often. The rock lights on the other hand are a must have. I suggest using the small $21 Walmart driving lights, at that price if you bash them you dont get too upset.
