Hi Northern Utah, new to Cherokee and the boards, just wanted to say hi to some locals.
Just bought my first jeep - 94 ZJ mostly stock. I'm hooked, I'm in love with this little monster... I have a quick question...
the previous owner had the front drive shaft off the vehicle - he said everyone does it during the spring and summer. I go to put it on and its bent - no biggie, I'll get a new one. I'm just wondering if people really DO keep it off during non winter months..
thanks in advance, I'm sure I'll be crossing paths with some of you one day. Look forward to it!! Peace

Been following the thread for awile now. I plan to run on the 24th and look forward to meeting you guys. So far only met Tom at tearapart. Will any guys be showing up at snakes that are engine gurus ???? I have lower engine noise (mostly heard at the oil pan) that makes her sound like a diesel. Did quite a bit of searching here and on naxja and flywheel and bolts are intact. Its bugging the heck out of me and i need to replace the front main seal, oil pan gasket and probably rear seal as well. oil pressure is good, no overheating, smoke etc...
Hoping for some free advice. Thanks, Chris

also removing the drive shaft does help on fuel economy

done
I have mine off. the CV joint went bad about 5 months ago. and since I have been planning axle swaps I didn't want to pay to replace/rebuild it just to pay to have it redone. I don't know how it is with the NP231, but its no biggie with the NP242...

I just wanted to post up with some clarification. Ryan and I are planning a shakedown run for his new setup out to the snakes on Easter Sunday April 24th. We'll be meeting at the crossroads at 10:00am and will plan on heading out to the trailhead about 10:30ish. http://maps.google.com/maps?rlz=1T4G...75094683503360
Laymens directions, if you take I-15, to Lehi main street and then go west to Redwood road you'll see the Chevron on the NW corner (its usually full of Jeeps), thats where we'll be.
So come out and play, should be a good time!

Its Easter so I'm still tryin to figure out for sure, plus I have prom on the 23rd so that might drain my wallet...- but to answer your question I'm pretty damn sure I will be there! I gotta make some bumpstops, and plate my frame, and put in new ball joints by then tho
