Did you ever figure out what was going on with the Aussie Ryan? Edit, excuse my ignorance but, what is " fozzy locking" ?

Fozzy locker is a twist to the standard Lincoln Locker. Apparently made popular by a guy named Fozzy. The Fozzy Locker is a cheap, removable version of the "Lincoln Locker" where the teeth of the side gears of the spider gear set are partially filled by welding material.
Some people who have created a Fozzy locker weld up the valley between 2 adjacent teeth on the side gears as pictured to the right. Welds are done 180° apart. Both side gears are done this way. The valley between the teeth are then fill until flush with the top of the teeth and ground flat. Some people say there are a couple advantages to the fozzy Locker. By only doing the two valleys it allows the side gears to still rotate partially before locking. The gears that are being welded are the same gears that are replaced when a drop in a "lunch box locker" so if it doesn't work out as you hoped or if you damage a side gear, it can be replaced by one of several drop-in lockers such as a Lock Rite or a Detroit EZ Locker. Ultimately this type of locker will not ratchet (disengage) around corners as a an automatic locker would would and can be hard on the stock open carrier especially when a wheel spins and hits the weld placing a large amount of shock on the stock carrier.

Thanks Mike, I can see how that might be a viable option for a trail only (trailered rig), but, if your going to drive it to and from the trail it's going to cost you more in tires than the cost of a decent locker, isn't it?

that would be my concern, but if your not worried about tires id go the cheap way and spool it. If i were you ryan in just take it to a drive train specialist and just have them look at it.

I'm just sick of messing with the Aussie only to have it fail in an obstical every trail run! Aussie wants me to replace the carrier, cause its not perfectly shaped... so at that rate I'm better off just welding it & selling the Aussie! My only other option is to put an extra shim in the side that keeps slipping due to lack of pressure against the teeth. Aussie advised against that, but F*** em!

Just an option and opinion. I was sick and tired of trying to figure out my Powertrax, I ended up letting Four wheel parts deal with it, they charged me $200 plus fluid ( I had already bought the part I broke) and I couldn't be happier with the job they did or the service I recieved, I was impressed, they're top notch. I just finally got to the point of realizing I might just be in over my head on this one, I dropped it off and three hours later thay called and said I was good to go. I don't even want to tell you how much time I wasted on the damn thing because I thought I was smarter than I am. Again, just my two cents.

Easy trails around the SL valley, but the moderate trails near by are; lil moab (west of Ut lake, not really a trail), the snakes (out by 5 mile), mineral basin & forest lake trail (AF canyon, currently closed), old ward trail (bountiful B), providence canyon (logan, come wheel with us on the 10th). That's about it as far as close moderate trails

How are you thinking of mounting them billy? 2 or 3 legs to the frame, long arms to work around, wrapped around the frame...?

I went with 4.56 gears. I only needed to replace the d30 carrier.

I've been back & forth with Aussie (me & there tech are on a first name basis) I know that its my carrier that's streched, cause it measures bigger from carrier to center pin on one side.... that's why I was thinking of tossing another shim on that side!

Man, that is a pretty nice present! If you are still thinking 6.5" lift, that may be a bit high if you are stopping at 33" tires. Unless you need all that clearance for something in particular, I would go a little lower. Don't underestimate the advantages of a lower center of gravity. It isn't just tipping points, but also climbing - you can climb a little better when you are lower
I am on 6.5" and 35s, and she's at a pretty good height. There is still a little room to be lower with just Bushwackers. If you did some cutting, you could be even lower.
Here is mine on about 6.5 and 33s. It just needs more tire or less lift, I think.

you could, you just have so much into that locker and r&p i dont want to see that one shim sent all that investment away. have you thought about heading to pnp or tear apart and grabbing a couple carriers and just try those.
