I'd be hesitent to undertake such an upgrade so close to an outing. 1. Your pushing the envelope on time, when I'm in a rush, things never go as planned and it ussually does'nt end well.
2. Was'nt your last locker nightmare a lockrite? That would make me nervous if I did'nt have time to work out the bugs before a trip like Moab.
3. I'd rather have the $175 in my pocket in case I break in Moab. I'd worry that a locker in a D-30 with no other upgrades would gaurantee a break.
4. Beefing a D-30 with a locker without backing it up with atleast stronger shafts and possibly a truss would make me nervous.
Again, just my opinions. Not that I know anything, just my perspective.

Would'nt you worry that throwing a locker in a stock D-30 might be running a bit of a risk of tearing it up?

I had Aussie issues before, but ya I think your right jeff I'm getting ahead of myself! I wouldn't have a problem doing in time, but don't feel like breaking the first day down there & be f'd! Granted spare shafts are on hand, & i'll have a trailer for any serious issues, I shouldn't chance it this late in the game. If the dudes still holding the locker when we get back I might snag it!

Since you asked, heres my opinions. Remembering that the way I do things is slow and steady, so this is just that, my opinion based on how I operate.

Yes but, everything can brake.... and with more traction means less throttle (for most people LOL)

the other was hell (my front) I couldn't get the cross pin out without taking the ring gear off and had to tear down my hubs/axles/diff ect... but then again it would've been about 2 hours had I not needed new carrier bearings at the same time...

I know lots that run lock rights in their stock 30 with 35's lay off the skinny pedal and don't get the front end on a bind and it'll last for a while. No matter what with 35's on a 30 its only a matter of time before the ring gear goes anyway. I managed to get a yr out of my 30 on 35's before I started not caring how I drove, then I couldn't get a ring gear to last 1trip LOL
