The twist and crack thing is real, although it is not like a sardine can - it does not happen easily.
If you wheel hard, it is a very good idea to combat it. Bumpers that tie more into the "frame" than stock, sliders, and of course stiffeners like you are saying will help a lot.
Going doorless will increase the desire-ability of these upgrades, as you do lose some reinforcement without them there. But as stated, most people go doorless for visibility and for fun - not out of necessity cuz they don't work.

Thanks for the offer, but factory style is cheap enough I am fine with buying a fresh one.
We can work out some kind of massive payment for a DVD, I am sure

Hey Derek, you know that steering thing I was doing a year ago? It might actually happen in February! Does your tube tapper have any blackout days I should stay away from that you know of? Also, is there still some DOM in your garage with my name on it?

With my tax return, after paying baby bills, I am buying Jeep stuff. Anyone else? So far, just no-fun stuff that I need, like an exhaust manifold, motor mounts, etc.
yes definitely grey, thats why i don't play there no more.

as for the steering, i don't know of any blackout days and i belive the DOM is still there, guess i could go look

you need to look at mine, its all twisted and cracked, but it has had 10 yrs of hard abuse with no stiffeners whatsoever on it.

and the doors on an XJ provide no structural support whatsoever, so weather or not they are on or off makes no difference. don't believe me? next time you drive with your window down stick your finger on the outside door seam on the A pillar and feel the body flexing.

Ha ha my frame had cracks all over as well, most of them I didn't find until I started plating the frame. I kinda of got used to all the creaking and groaning noises my jeep made. Gonna be wierd when they are gone
