I did all drive train fluids about 4 months ago. Bottom line... i would like to buy anyone lunch or beer if they are working on their jeep tomorrow and i could come by and have u drive it and hopefully help diagnose the problem. Been out of work for 5 weeks and money is at an all time low. I don't expect to show up and have someone turn wrench's for free....just could appreciate some knowledge and help before she craps out. Please let me know if anyone is available.

Thanks, Chris

So from what I get out of this, you hear the noise in 4wd? is there a noise when it is in 2wd? I had a 94 once that the front cv on the drive shaft went bad and in 4wd or 2wd it made all sorts of noise. With you saying the front shaft had play in it (which it should have a little play anyway) it could be just the shaft. I would have some one take it out for you and then drive it.
